Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been a very busy fortnight at school, filled with a fantastic array of learning opportunities that have really brought our curriculum to life. It is wonderful to see our pupils engaging so enthusiastically with everything on offer.
We celebrated World Book Day on Wednesday, and we were blown away by the excellent effort shown by everyone who came dressed for the day as either a character or in their pyjamas! The creativity on display was a testament to our community's love for literature. We were also privileged to host a visiting author, whose workshops sparked a great deal of inspiration across the classes.
A huge thank you to Mrs Foster for organisating our World Book Day activities and for coordinating the visiting Book Fair. These events are vital in fostering a lifelong passion for reading. Through purchasing books for your child at the Book Fair, you also helped in raising funds for us in school to purchase books for the children. Thank you for your support.
Our Cultural Day last week was a huge success. Across the school, children were so enthused as we explored the rich traditions of Japan. Children were able to participate in an array of activities, some of which included:
* Wonderful Art Activities: Creating intricate pieces inspired by Japanese culture and art
* Sensory Gardens: Designing and building miniature Zen-inspired spaces in Key Stage One
* Martial Arts: A fantastic introductory session in Key Stage Two
This immersive experience wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of Mr Groves, who worked so hard to coordinate this whole school opportunity for us all.
The earlier starts for Year 6 are already having a significantly positive impact on confidence and progress. Thank you for supporting these sessions and ensuring that your child is in school on time to benefit from these sessions.
It is important to acknowledge the hard work of all our staff. They have been very busy working on our key development areas. Recently, our entire staff team participated in Whole School Behaviour training. We will be sharing more information with parents in due course regarding this.
Last week we also underwent a Safeguarding Audit, led by external auditors. The outcomes of the audit were excellent and a testament to the hard work of the entire staff team and their commitment to keeping children safe. The visitors spoke with staff and children and also visited lessons and playtimes. The children were fantastic and the auditors reflected on their 'deep understanding' of safety and what this means. The day was expertly led by our Designated Safeguarding Leads Mrs Trevor and Mrs Foster.
Mrs Lang and I also had the pleasure of visiting lessons across the school this week. It was lovely to see the fantastic learning opportunities on offer and to observe the hard work from the staff in supporting your children to achieve their very best.
Next week, our Year 6 pupils will be undertaking their Mock SATs. This is a valuable opportunity for them to practice taking these tests before the official SATs tests in May. We wish them the very best of luck—we know how hard they have all been working in preparation.
Thank you for your continued support; I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
Kind regards,
Mrs Waterman
Head of School

Year 6 will be completing their final round of mock SATs next week (Monday- Thursday). These mocks will run just like the actual assessments to help prepare pupils for mock week in May. Children will continue to come in at 8:30am where they will be supported with revision tasks.
The children have been working very hard over the last term and we are excited to see their progress.
If you have any questions about the mock assessments, please contact your child's class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
The Year 6 team

Young Mathematical Story Authors (YMSA) Competition
We’re pleased to share that our school is taking part in the Young Mathematical Story Authors (YMSA) Competition this year. This international competition encourages children to combine maths and creativity by writing a short mathematical story picture book.
Children can take inspiration from well-known stories such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, which explores size and comparison, and create their own imaginative maths-based tales.
Thanks to the support of Oxford University Press, HarperCollins and Charlesbridge, the winner in each age category (4–7, 8–11 and 12–16 years) will receive a £100 cash prize.
Full details and entry information have been uploaded to your child’s Google Classroom.
All entries should be returned to class teachers by Friday 13th March.
We hope many children feel inspired to take part and enjoy this exciting opportunity.
This year, every class will be creating a collaborative Art and Design Technology project to showcase at our School Art Exhibition on 3 July. The finished pieces will be auctioned in a silent auction to help raise funds for much-needed art supplies across the year groups.
To help bring these projects to life, we are looking for second-hand, good condition donations of the following items:
Wooden stools (short or tall)
Large mirror (with wooden frame)
Small wooden tables (side or small coffee tables)
Children’s wooden tables with or without chairs
Large planter pots
Wooden chess sets
Wooden garden chairs or benches
Art easels (any size)
to the left are some picture examples:
If you have any of these items you would be happy to donate, please contact the school office.
Thank you for supporting our young artists and designers!
It’s time to get creative and a little bit silly! We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Comic Relief (Red Nose Day) on Friday 20th March.
This year’s theme is all about the power of laughter. The official slogan is "Take Yourself Funny for Money," encouraging us all to have a laugh at our own expense to raise vital funds for those facing poverty and injustice.
Comic Relief has shaken things up for 2026!
The "Design-Yer" Nose: For the first time ever, the official Red Noses are customisable! They have a paper-like finish so students can draw, stick, and craft their own unique look.
Disney Collaboration: You may have seen the wonderful new range featuring Winnie the Pooh and friends. Whether it's a Pooh Bear T-shirt or an Eeyore-inspired accessory, the Hundred Acre Wood crew are out in force to support the cause!
To celebrate, we are holding a school-wide Mufti Day. We are asking students to "Take Yourself Funny for Money" by wearing:
Anything RED or Comic Relief themed.
Winnie the Pooh or Disney-inspired clothing.
Their custom-designed Red Noses!
Anything that makes them look "funny for money"—the dafter, the better!
We are asking for a voluntary donation of £1.00 to support Comic Relief’s mission to provide essentials like food, shelter, and safety to those who need it most. Donations can be made via the link below:

We are thrilled to share some extra inspiration this year. A local teacher—well known for his professional football career playing for Luton Town and now working right here in Milton Keynes—is an official Comic Relief Ambassador!
We’ll be sharing his journey with the students,to show that whether you're on the pitch or in the classroom, we can all pull together for a great cause. His story is a brilliant reminder of how community spirit and a bit of hard work can change the world.
We would love to invite you into school on Thursday, 16th April, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm for an opportunity to look through your child’s books.
This is a wonderful chance to see firsthand the incredible progress your children have made and the "amazing" work they’ve been producing in class throughout the last term. They have been working so hard, and we know they can’t wait to share their achievements with you!
Time: 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Access: The Green Gate will open at 5:00 pm and will be closed promptly at 6:00 pm.
We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating our students' success together.
