A thought spun up dangerous
Clung to in private corners
Made of silken strands numerous
Seeking refuge from scorners
A million small connections
Woven through the mind unbarred
To face the world’s rejections
From which it can’t leave unscarred
A work of art petrified
By faceless critics roaming
Yet weavers stand testified
By skills which they are honing
Sticky, hallow sanctuary
The might in those strands moonlit
Viewers gaze on, unwary
Of the freedom they admit
Language casts its messages
Elegance sings its rhythm
Weavers thank its privileges
The poetic web elysian
Jazmin Collins has done many crazy things in her lifetime - flying an airplane, sticking her hand inside a living cow's stomach, and more - while remaining unable to ride a bike. She's hoping to do even crazier things in the future, such as publish her first original novel in May 2022. She's the winner of the 2021 Dell Award, and her work can be found in Asimov's Science Fiction magazine. When she's not making conversation-starting memories, she can be found curled up with a good sci-fi or fantasy novel or working on one of her own.
