by Steven La
Steven La is a senior at Arcadia University pursuing a Sport Management major with a minor in Business Administration with a concentration in data analytics. Even though Steven doesn't participate in any sports at Arcadia, he is an avid sports watcher rooting for his Philly teams. His experience at Arcadia and in the Sport Management program has been truly special thanks in part to Dr. Kim especially. With his helpful tips and motivational guidance throughout his first 3 years, it definitely helped and shaped him who he is today. During his junior year, his first internship was with the Philadelphia Phillies during the summer where he participated as a Fan Club/Entertainment Staff Member for the second half of the season, in which he helped assist with the execution of Fan Club events as they occur throughout the season as well as interacting with members through scheduled engagements and activities. During the same summer, Steven also obtained his second internship with Sportradar, a sports data analytics company in Minnesota, where he works as a data operator intern remotely for MLB games and now NCAAF games, in which he tracks and enters live play-by-play data and validates statistics postgame to ensure accuracy of the final stat report. Yep, he’s getting paid to watch sports essentially. Steven’s helpful hint is that “get the most out of every opportunity, even if it is the grunt work. Those in higher positions will recognize that and reward you for doing so and it will help you succeed your goals in the real world."
