Technology Supports

The use of technology tools to fully engage students and create a learning environment that fosters critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity is fundamental in our world. Student devices are used to gain access to textbooks and district-provided resources allowing students to utilize curriculum both at school and at home.

Technology in Akron Public Schools

  • 100% of K-12 students will continue to receive a Chromebook

  • Technology support specialists will continue to be assigned to every school to provide tech support to students and families

  • Students who are 100% remote and need a Chromebook or repair will go to their APS building; we will exchange their device

  • Individual support for families to ensure a reliable internet connection in the home

  • Teachers will continue to use Google Classroom, Google Meets, Google Drive and digital curriculum

  • Provide technology self-help guide, training tools and a special help desk for parents and guardians

  • Instructional resources for parents and guardians to support student learning in a remote environment

Help Desk Form - Teachers are available and school offices are open on weekdays and should be your first line of support. Click for a list of school phone numbers. If you need additional assistance during the day or if students/guardians have questions that school staff are unable to resolve, complete a daytime help desk form. Staff will monitor and respond to all submissions from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. daily.

After-Hours Support Center- High-quality educators and tutors will use Google Meets to tutor students and clarify lessons and homework assigned by the classroom teacher. The first level of support for students is his or her classroom teacher. However, evening time supports are critical elements that allow students the opportunity to get help with questions, concerns, or content that he or she may be struggling with while completing assignments independently. After-Hours will run each evening, Monday through Thursday, from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., beginning in October 5. Phone: 330-761-7943
