Dear Families,
We hope you are enjoying your summer break and have found time to reconnect and rejuvenate during the summer months. The Math Department has put together some fun math activities and games for you and your scholar to enjoy during the summer break. These activities will help your scholar(s) keep their math skills fresh to be ready for the new school year. Below are some tips for using these activities.
If you need any help or have questions, feel free to reach out to us at math@apslearns.org.
Try to do a game or activity together at least three times a week.
Spend about 15-20 minutes each time engaging in a game or activity.
Before starting, check if your scholar understands what to do. Each activity contains a check for understanding to review with your scholar before you begin.
If they need help, go over other similar questions together before participating in the game or activity.
Make sure you have everything you need for the activity by checking the "What You Need" section.
Read through the rules together in the "What You Do" section.
After the completion of each task, check your scholar's work using the solutions found within each of the folders.
Getting Ready for High School Courses ( 6th Grade Math, 7th Grade Math, 8th Grade Math, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus and AP Statistics):
Khan Academy is an excellent resource to refresh your math skills and get ready for the course you are taking in the fall.
In each course linked in the folders, your scholar is able to progress at their own pace.
They have the option to practice only those skills that they need or they can complete the entire course.
As scholars progress, they earn mastery points by completing lessons and activities.
In each unit, there are tutorial videos to help your scholar, practice problems, and other activities.
Try to complete three to five lessons each week.
