Dear Akron Public Schools Family:
As you may be aware, the Akron Public Schools Board of Education recently approved, at the March 20, 2024 Special Board meeting, new attendance zones for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. You are receiving this letter because your scholar is affected by the new board-approved attendance zones and will be reassigned to a different school. Please note that all affected scholars will be appropriately reassigned to schools in alignment with the newly adopted attendance zones after the 2023-2024 academic year.
We understand you may have questions and concerns, but we assure you that we are dedicated to facilitating a seamless transition for your family. School leaders will be planning several transition activities for students and families before summer break. More to come on this.
Please read the following information carefully as it identifies school assignments as well as transportation eligibility for the 2024-2025 academic year:
Student Name: <<FIRST_NAME>> <<LAST_NAME>>
Assigned School: <<NY_BLDG>>
Transportation Eligibility (Will transportation be provided?): <<YES or NO>>
If you would like to request enrollment in a different school, please visit https://tinyurl.com/redistrictingOE to complete the special open enrollment application by April 22, 2024. Please be advised that approval is based upon enrollment capacity and you will be responsible for transportation to and from school daily.
We recognize that reassignment to a new school represents a considerable change for families and we are committed to supporting every scholar, every day at every opportunity. Thank you for your attention and cooperation. Please contact the enrollment staff in the APS Division of Student Services and Supports at 330-761-2810 with any questions.
Sincerely,
Michael Robinson, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
