Dear Parent or Guardian,
As part of our commitment to your child's academic development, we administer certain diagnostic evaluations throughout the school year. Akron Public Schools utilizes i-Ready in grades K-8 and Renaissance STAR in grades 9-12. We have scholars take these in fall, winter, and spring. The iReady/STAR scores provide insight into your scholar’s progress in reading and mathematics and offer educators important information where we see growth or areas needing improvement.
This is a system-wide effort to promote academic advancement.
These state-mandated assessments are an essential part of our education system, providing valuable insights into your child's academic progress and the overall effectiveness of our curriculum. The results can help us identify areas of strength and areas that may need improvement, allowing us to better tailor instruction to meet the needs of each student.
Your child’s iReady/STAR score report provides detailed information; the first of these will be with your child’s upcoming report card.
It is important for your child that you review the report carefully. If you have any questions or need assistance in interpreting the results, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or school principal. We are here to support you and ensure that you have a clear understanding of your child's academic progress.
Our schools will continue to hold meetings concerning iReady/STAR results to discuss individual student progress and strategize for improvement with families.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We look forward to working together to ensure their continued growth and success.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael Robinson
Superintendent, Akron Public Schools
