Chromebooks

Prairieville Middle is a One-to-One school, where every student is issued a Chromebook and a charger.  Students receive their computer within the first few days of school, provided they return the signed technology contract.

Computers are used every day.  Therefore, it is imperative that students charge their Chromebooks every night to ensure that they can participate in their class lessons.  Failure to charge their computer will result in a behavior infraction.  Additionally, students must leave their computers in the school-issued case and must keep their computers in their bookbags between classes.

Acceptable Use

Use of this computer is a privilege, not a right.  This means that students should use their computers for school purposes only, and are restricted from viewing websites, apps, and pictures that do not meet the guidelines set forth by their teachers.  Any and all use of the Chromebook, including websites, apps, and email, is subject to review by school authorities.  Abuse of technology privileges will result in consequences and may result in the loss of the Chromebook (temporarily or permanently).

Insurance and Repair Costs

Prairieville Middle offers insurance in case students accidentally break their computer.  The cost of this insurance is $20, and covers a multitude of issues listed below.  The cost of non-insured repairs is also listed:

Insurance does NOT cover lost chargers, which cost $40 to replace.  If an accident happens and the Chromebook is not in the case, the insurance may not cover the cost of the repair. A complete Chromebook replacement is $400.00.

Any problems with the computer should be reported to your child's advisory teacher.
