Do you like to build things? Problem-solve? Work in a small group? Compete? In Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA), learners do these things and more! Through a combination of active hands-on design challenges, workshops, projects, and field trips, students develop new skills and learn scientific and engineering principles. Additionally, while using the engineering design process, learners think critically and work in teams to solve complex problems. Students who participate in nex+Gen's MESA program are also members of New Mexico MESA. NM MESA students participate in a variety of enriched math, science and engineering activities including field trips, speakers, workshops, regional and state-wide academic competitions, community service and leadership development projects. NM MESA provides funding and logistical support for these and other activities. NM MESA members may also be eligible to earn the NM MESA Loyalty Award scholarship.
Meeting times:
This year nex+Gen MESA is an elective class that meets during 8th period (M, T, Th 2:30-3:53 pm). Successful completion of this 2 semester course will grant 1 elective credit in MESA (0.5/semester) or Guided Study (if you’ve previously taken MESA as an elective).
