Hello and welcome! My name is Sharmila Goradia, and I currently teach NM History, World History, and Ethnic Studies. I am relatively new to La Cueva (2 years) but have been teaching history for 12 years.
Though I was not born in New Mexico, I was raised here. A New Mexican through and through, as are my three younger brothers, who all live within a one-mile radius of me. I have been happily married for 16 years and have 2 children and a pug named Peanut. We love hiking, traveling, and watching movies together, at least that is if they can pull me away from my garden.
As to be expected, I am also a proud Lobo (GO LOBOS!!!!), having done both my undergrad and graduate studies at UNM, with a brief stint at UTEP. My undergrad is in Anthropology and History and my graduate studies are in Secondary Education and Political Science. After obtaining my license, I taught at Manzano and then Valley High School.
The transition to La Cueva has been a smooth and exciting one. My students are incredible, as are the school and the community it serves. So, here's to another fantastic year! GOOOOOOOO BEARS!!!!
Hello! My name is Rudolpho Herrera and I am very excited to student teach and learn with your child and help them grasp the huge umbrella term that has become history. I am interested in bringing many historical perspectives to students that are normally ignored by courses in public school, especially those perspectives that the students find to be relatable and interesting when presented to them.
I was born and raised here in the University Heights of Albuquerque, I am 23 years old and I have, since a young age, wanted to become a high school history teacher. I have been studying for 6 years at UNM (Undergrad in Political Science) and for 2 ½ years of that I worked in Early Childhood Education as a head teacher of the 2-year-old room. Making the jump to high school has always been my goal in life, and I am so excited to share this new experience with your students.
In my free time I love to read books, play historical video games, and participate in activist organizations here in Albuquerque.
I look forward to meeting you and your child and helping them grow while understanding more about the human world around them! GO BEARS!
These are the clubs that I sponsor during the school year. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join. Below is some information about meeting days and times. If you are curious and want to know more before attending a meeting, please come talk to me.
