Welcome to 5th grade! I am excited to start this school year with you. This year we will focus on a growth mindset, increasing individual achievement, and fostering a love for learning. We will create a classroom community that centers on cooperation, hard work, creativity, and respect for others.

Meet Mrs. Guerra

Hello! 

My name is Mrs. Guerra and I am thrilled to be teaching 5th grade at John Baker again this year. I love getting to work with such wonderful students as we prepare for middle school. 

I am a native of Albuquerque and my husband and I love raising our family in the Holiday Park neighborhood. All four of our children have attended John Baker with our youngest still here this year. 

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education both from UNM. In addition to 5th grade, I have also taught middle school in Rio Rancho and Special Education here at John Baker. I love teaching 5th grade! I also enjoy coffee, calligraphy, crafts, and photography. I look forward to getting to know each student and encouraging them along in their educational goals. We will have a wonderful year of hard work and memories!

My teaching philosophy focuses on a growth mindset, individual achievement and a love for learning. I try to foster a classroom community that centers on cooperation, hard work, creativity, and respect for others. I set high expectations for my students and will do all I can to encourage students to be the best version of themselves.
