Welcome to Mr. Gatsch’s Classroom
Hello Cibola students and families! My name is Brian Gatsch, and I’ve been teaching here at Cibola since 2018. Before landing in high school classrooms, I earned a BA in English and an MA in Philosophy from UNM. I enjoy helping students dig into big ideas, ask questions, and develop their own voices in discussion and writing.
Outside of school, I enjoy making things (woodworking, bookbinding, and recently laser engraving), listening to music or podcasts, or spending time with my family and our pets (two aging dogs and one cat who frequently has the zoomies).
Classes Offered This Year
AP Seminar: Building independent inquiry, cross-curricular research, and team presentation skills.
AP Language & Composition: Mastering rhetorical analysis, persuasive writing, and non-fiction text examination.
English 10 Honors: Building advanced literary analysis and critical thinking.
I want every student to feel supported. I am available in my classroom both before and after school on most days for feedback, tutoring, or general questions. If you ever need to talk through an assignment, feel free to stop by or send me a quick email.
The side bar on the left contains my daily teaching schedule and direct contact details. To access course materials, click Syllabi in the top menu to find course expectations and join codes for:

I’m looking forward to a fantastic, productive year with all of you. Welcome back!
