7th Grade Health
I would like to welcome you to seventh grade health! I am looking forward to working with you and your child this semester! This semester course of Health Education is an introduction to basic health concepts that will promote learning experiences for student growth in the physical, mental, emotional, and social areas. The attached course syllabus provides a brief description of concepts we will be covering in our six instructional units. The asterisks indicate topics that may be sensitive to some students, and I encourage you to email me at email@example.com with any concerns or questions.
It is my goal to create a community of learners in our classroom. In this community, the students are expected to respect one another and me as their teacher. As a class, we will discuss expectations and their importance in a diverse and cooperative community. Students are expected to follow the classroom and school rules at all times. Failure to follow rules and expectations will result in classroom and potential administrative consequences.
Students are expected to attend class punctually and to participate fully in class activities. Due to the course guidelines and collaborative learning that takes place, students need to be present and engaged in order to develop their skills. It is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed work due to an absence.
Assignments and activities will be posted at the beginning of each class period, and students will write the assignments and due dates in their agendas. The agenda is an effective tool for keeping class assignments organized as well as promoting communication between parents and teachers. We will also be using Google Classroom for a variety of assignments, and due dates will be posted on this site as well. Students and parents will receive invitations to join Google classroom during the first week of school.

Weeks 15, 16, and 17 Unit 6: Sexuality* Topics include STIs including AIDS and HIV (information and focus on prevention), Reproduction, Anatomy and Physiology, Relationships, Abstinence and Contraception
