Morning Drop off

After the first bell rings all the third grade students will be expected to line up with their class on the pavement between the grass field and portables.

Scholastic News

Our class will be using Scholastic News magazine to enrich our Science and Social Studies curriculum.

Curriculum Night

Mark your calendars for our Curriculum Night on Tuesday, August 28th. Please plan on coming to learn more about our curriculum, classroom procedures and your see child's learning environment.

Snacks

Our lunchtime will be from 11:50-12:20. We will have a short snack while we work in the morning. The students are encouraged to bring in a small, healthy and easy clean up snack each day.

Agendas/Homework Folder

Please check for information in your child’s homework folder daily. The folder and agenda should be taken home and returned every day.

Tests

Each Friday we have tests. It is very important that your child is present and on time every day. We will spend each week reading one story and we will have a reading comprehension test over the story and the vocabulary words from the story. We will have math fact quizzes (timed addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division tests based on your child’s level). Please help your child prepare for these tests and be sure he/she is studying throughout the week.

Homework

Students will have homework Monday-Thursday. Each night they will have a math worksheet. This worksheet is to practice the concept we covered in the daily lesson. Students will also be expected to read Monday-Thursday. The students need to record the book title in their agenda and have a parent sign the agenda. All homework must be completed to earn our "Fun Friday."

Book Orders

Throughout the year your child will receive book orders from Scholastic. If you would like to order something you may order online with our class code. The class code will be given with the order form. Please do not send checks or money to school. The order needs to be paid online. The books should arrive within 2 weeks of our ordering deadline.

Class Dojo

Class Dojo is an online program that gives students instant feedback on their behavior. It also allows parents to view the points rewarded throughout the day. It has a feature that allows parents to message the teacher instantly. This a great tool for home/school communication! Very soon I will be sending you a code and instructions for connecting. Please sign on as soon as this info is received. This is my main form of communication with families. Please check your messages daily!

I look forward to an amazing year of learning with your child! If you have questions or concerns, you may email me at Melissa.jackson@aps.edu

Sincerely,

Melissa Jackson
