Gifted and Honors Mathematics require a passion for math, both as a rigorous daily challenge, and in its far-reaching forms of exploration through both long and short term assignments. It calls for self-motivated students who enjoy applying critical thinking and problem solving skills individually and in small groups of their intellectual peers. Those who see math study and work, both in the classroom and at home, as a chore will struggle. This class is a vehicle for students to access learning at the level and complexity they need. Grouping gifted students is one of the foundations of exemplary gifted education practice.
