Beginning Orchestra Weekly Practice Log

Weekly Practice Log Instructions and Grading

Weekly Practice Logs will be found as an assignment on our Google Classroom.

Please do not come to this website to fill them out!

Below is a summary of how Practice Logs will be evaluated.

Each week, you will complete a record of your practice for the week by going to my website and filling out the Google Form listed under the “Weekly Practice Log” tab. This is not just a log of how many minutes you practiced each day, but a detailed examination of your practice habits and goals for improvement on your instrument and in our music. Every time we practice, we get better, but setting goals for ourselves can help us practice SMARTER, not just harder. These records must be submitted by Sunday of the week you have recorded your practice plan and practice log. You will fill out a new record every week you practice.

Points will be awarded based on the following:

  • Thoroughness of your practice plan and weekly goals: 20 points
  • Use of the Practice Spots to guide your practice: 10 points
  • Consistency and Frequency of your practice routine: 20 points
  • Quality of your Practice Reflection: 20 points

To keep a better log of your practice, you may print off the Practice Record and fill in your goals and practice times as the week goes on. You may then enter in your record at the end of your practice week.
