About JAG...
Jobs for America's Graduates has been around since 1979. It is a student engagement program that is proven to improve graduation rates and positive post-high school outcomes. This means that JAG students are more likely to be employed and/or enrolled in post-secondary learning as compared to their peers.
JAG specialists support students in achieving these goals by ensuring a strong and supportive relationship, promoting social emotional asset development, and the attainment of 37 core employability competencies. This happens a variety of ways: job shadowing, mentorships, and internships when possible; leadership trainings; student-led projects with public audiences. I'm excited to guide your young people through this journey!
About me...
Educating young people is social justice work. I am an endorsed Secondary English Language Arts Educator and K-12 Administrator, with Masters of Arts degrees from Eastern New Mexico University and University of New Mexico. Most importantly, I'm an unflinching advocate for students! Young people are leaders with assets to be developed. As an advocate for the Native American students attending Cibola High School, I guarantee that I will hold students to high expectations while simultaneously being a fiercely supportive and trustworthy presence in their lives.
My motto is that we must all find the hard work that is also our heart work, and for the last twenty years, I have been rewarded with a career that has given me just that.
