There is no longer a mask requirement on the Appalachian State campus; however, we respect anyone’s wishes to wear a mask during the event.
Since 2009, Appalachian State University's Writing Across the Curriculum Program has sponsored an annual Writing Across Institutions (WAI) conference to support community college faculty by providing them access to best practices in the teaching of writing, scholars from the field, and an opportunity to meet in conversation with other NC community college and Appalachian faculty. Appalachian’s WAC Program was designed to create opportunities for faculty to connect writing program goals and outcomes in order to better serve students, and the WAI conference extends that conversation to community college faculty in order to help strengthen instruction for transfer students.
To check out more about past Writing Across Institution conferences, please visit the WAC website here.
About WAC
WAC brings together faculty from all levels, from other institutions, and from the greater community in conversation about writing and teaching writing. Investing in the premise of the vertical writing curriculum, WAC fosters a greater awareness of the need to transfer skills and knowledge across levels, disciplines, and experiences. [Meet your WACOS]
About the VWC
The Vertical Writing Curriculum was designed to give students continued support for writing during their careers at Appalachian, with writing experience each year and a structure to archive writing for both students and the university.
