Outcomes

Week 1~ July 12-16, 2021

We received proofs from the marketing agency for the first two lesson plans on The Bristol Sessions (Grades 4 to 5 and Grades 8 and 11), and we are doing final edits on those two lessons and resource guides for students and teachers in prepartion for the upcoming teacher in-service.

Personally I have learned a great deal about how the educational facet fits in within the museum world. Working in a museum is a combined public relations, marketing, and educational effort.

Week 2~ July 19-23, 2021

I led my first school tour group. I saw again how this nontraditional method of education, i.e. museums, is similar to working in a library. I had to talk to a group of students whom I didn't know personally and I had to provide a lesson to them.

Another outcome of this week was feedback on the lesson plans I am providing to the elementary and middle school/high school in-service teacher sessions. We had a group of volunteers come and critique my lesson when I presented. It was very helpful and led to tweaks and improvements.

Week 3~July 26-30, 2021

We educated two groups of area teachers (elementary and middle/high school groups) at our two educator in-service trainings. The outcome was two very happy groups of teachers who obtained lesson plans and information they can use. We achieved our goal of providing successful, relevant training about the museum's offerings to our community educators.
