Every students has a Chromebook assigned to them for use in class. Each classs has 45 minutes of technology instruction once a week.

Why should Elementary students learn to code?

This year we will have more instruction with coding and beginning programing. We use easy "drag and drop" activities to begin the adventure. My intention is for students to have FUN with code in elementary school. Hopefully this will spark an interest any they will take more advanced classes in middle and high school.

Teaching kids coding when they are still young is important, because kids have an easier time learning skills than adults do – their minds are flexible and open, and learning code is like learning a language, far easier when you are young

Coding is the new Literacy

Computing is one of the fastest-growing occupations in the U.S. It’s also one of the top paying, with computing jobs paying 75 percent more than the median salary in the U.S.

Coding Teaches Problem Solving and Critical Thinking Skills

Teaching kid’s code helps them to think about the big picture and how to break down big tasks. When kids learn code they learn to overcome difficult tasks and achieve amazing goals.

Coding Teaches Persistence

When a program doesn't work. Students have to check their work for errors, look at the details, and try again .They learn how to apply logic and most importantly how to persist at a task.
