I grew up in Missoula Montana in the heart of the Rockies. My family still lives in Missoula and I go over to visit several times a year. I love getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and getting to slow down and relax. I attended the University of Montana in Missoula and got my undergrad in Psychology. I moved to Seattle in 2010 because I wanted a new adventure and experience a bigger city. It was here in Seattle that I met my husband and we got married in 2014. With his support and encouragement I decided to make the leap and go to grad school to become a teacher. I attended Seattle Pacific University for my graduate degree. I have worked at Woodin Elementary as a 1st grade teacher since 2015 and I love teaching First Graders!
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a first grader. I thought it was so cool that my 1st teacher got to teach us how to read and knew that I wanted to have that same job some day. I believe that students learn by being hands on and interacting with manipulates and talking about their thinking. This year the students will be introduced to new information, will have time to talk about what they are noticing and then get to try on the new strategies and practice them. We will be learning doing whole group activities, small group activities, partner work and independent work. This year is going to be a great year and I am looking forward to all the adventures we will go on!
