St. Joseph Technical Senior High School

Background

Established in 1960 by a Swiss priest, Jacob Hilber(1918-1985) with Catholic Bethlehem Church, St. Joseph Technical High School (公東高級工業職業學校) originally aims to improve the lives of the aborigines and develop their livelihood skills. Through solid training, the school equips students with professional techniques. Until now, the school has been cultivating plenty of international gold award winners, and most of them have become excellent technicians in their careers. Since the school motto is "Earnest and Responsible”, teachers’ faithfulness to their profession has become students’ model. These educational beliefs and professional skills have been handed down from generation to generation. Apart from providing students with high-quality learning, more importantly, the school is eager to develop good habits and good manners in students and expand the international scope for students.

At the very first beginning, there were only two majors: machinery and woodworking. In response to social and economic development, other majors have been added. Currently, 10 diploma curriculum areas include: Mechanical Engineering, Furniture Carpentry, Architecture, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Interior Design, Data Process, Modern Fashion, Hair Dressing and Restaurant skills.
