Charles Fadel
Education and Competencies for the Age of AI

Charles Fadel is a global education thought leader and author, futurist and inventor; founder and chairman of Center for Curriculum Redesign.  He chairs the education committee at BIAC/OECD; and is the co-author of Artificial Intelligence in Education (2019); Four-Dimensional Education Framework in 23 languages) and the best-selling book 21st Century Skills.

Charles is a highly sought-after keynoter/presenter at national and international events for organizations as varied as the World Economic Forum, UNESCO, World Bank, OECD, Google TechTalk, Gates Foundation, National Science Foundation, World Future Society, New York Times Schools of Tomorrow, International Baccalaureate (IB), ACT, Learning & the Brain, British Council, and CEA-ACE (Canada). He has contributed to and been featured on and by various media organizations. These include National Public Radio (NPR), the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the Huffington Post, eSchool News, Education Week, University Business, and Technology & Learning.


He has worked with education systems and institutions in more than 30 countries and spent 25 years in technology management (M/A-COM; Analog Devices; and as the founder of Neurodyne AI).  He was formerly a founder and president of Fondation Helvetica Education (Geneva, Switzerland); the Global Education Lead at Cisco Systems, a visiting scholar at MIT ESG and Wharton/Penn CLO, project director at Harvard GSE; a member of the President’s Council at Olin College of Engineering, and is an angel investor with Beacon Angels.  


Charles’ groundbreaking book, Education for the Age of AI (2024), was just released. His foreshadowing book Artificial Intelligence in Education (2018) was translated into Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic. His earlier, highly influential book Four-Dimensional Education (2015) was translated into ten languages, while its framework was translated into twenty-three languages. He co-authored best-selling 21st Century Skills (2009, Wiley), which became a worldwide moniker.


Charles consults selectively with high-potential jurisdictions, schools, universities, corporations, and foundations around the globe. He contributed to education projects in more than thirty countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Tunisia, and the United States.


Charles was awarded seven patents. Six as sole inventor and one as co-inventor. He has one patent pending: “n-Angulation Assessments.” He holds a B.S. in electronics with course concentration in quantum and solid-state physics and an MBA in international marketing.  He attended all required courses in electrical engineering at the master’s level, with electives in neuroscience and statistics.  An avid reader, he auto-didactically learned emerging disciplines such as evolutionary psychology. He enjoys the lessons of classical history.
