Mentorship At-a-Glance
New CHPS teachers will receive a mentor
Mentors are experienced teachers, typically outside of the mentees department/grade-level
Mentors are part of the CHPS New Teacher Support Structure
New teachers and mentors will meet regularly throughout the year
Teaching and Learning will share resources with mentors and mentees to guide meetings
Goals
The goals of the mentor program are to:
align with the district’s vision of mentorship that focuses on content, collaboration, and equity;
foster professional relationships and integrate new educators into the school community;
address individual and collective professional needs of new educators using coaching conversations;
strengthen and support instructional, curricular, assessment and relational capacity skills of new educators;
resolve predictable issues and concerns of new educators; and
establish a network that will support new educators throughout the induction period.

Ongoing new teacher support is provided through:
Mentorship Program
New teacher building check-ins throughout the year
May include Peer Coaches, Teaching and Learning, Special Services, EL Dept.
