If you have instructional materials in your classroom/school/program that are no longer being used, follow these steps:
Send an email to your Building Principal or supervisor to ensure these materials are not needed elsewhere in the school.
If your Building Principal or supervisor confirms the materials are not needed, complete this form.
Teaching & Learning will work with school administrators to survey the needs of other schools in the district to determine if there is a need for any of the materials. If needs are indicated, appropriate steps will be taken to move the materials.
If the materials are not needed by others in the district, Teaching & Learning will notify you that they may be discarded (wait until you receive this confirmation to discard materials).
Materials should be stamped "Discard.” Work with your Media Center staff to use a stamp or sticker to mark “Discard.”
Make materials available to students within the school to take home.
Any remaining materials should be given to the custodial crew to either be donated to Books for Africa or recycled.
