1st Grade Teacher

My name is Krysten Walters. I have had a dream of being a teacher ever since I discovered what a teacher was. I am so excited to be teaching first grade this year! This will be my third year teaching first grade at Fairmont Elementary School.

I grew up in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, a small town southwest of Madison, WI. I attended college at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. I received my degree in elementary education with a minor in early childhood. I am licensed to teach students from birth through sixth grade. I am currently pursuing my masters degree in teaching English as a second language. I previously taught in an early childhood center, and was a substitute the Fairmont School District. My husband and I live on a farm in Fairmont with our horse, cat, and dogs.

I love teaching because it provides so many different opportunities to impact the future leaders of our world. One of my favorite feelings while teaching is seeing the "light bulb" moments students have. It is so exciting to see what I am teaching click in their heads, and knowing they understand the content. I always strive to make students feel comfortable and successful. I am looking forward to the upcoming school year!
