Dr. Trevor Johnson - Principal
Welcome to the website of Dakota Hills Middle School. We are a school serving students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades with an enrollment of about 1,200 students. We are located in northeast Eagan, Minnesota, a southern suburb of Minneapolis and St. Paul. We have a dynamic staff of educators that love children, love teaching, and are committed to the success of each student. As middle level educators they identify with the unique combination of emotional growth and academic development that occurs during the young adolescent years.
Dakota Hills Middle School offers enthusiastic and challenging instruction for students with a focus on exploratory learning experiences, fostered by the middle school house structure and a focus on personalized relationships. Dakota Hills provides a balance of instruction in core academic subjects like math, science, social studies, communications, world language and language arts along with the vital exploratory and arts oriented experiences that come from music, physical education, technology education, art, and family and consumer science. Our students eventually move into Eagan High School for their grades 9-12 education.
Understanding, as we do, that all young adolescents experience amazing cognitive, emotional, and physical growth in the three years they are within our middle school setting, we are extremely supportive of the academic, social and emotional growth of our students. We have a very active Parent Booster organization that eagerly supports our efforts, and our parents take an active interest and are involved in their children’s education. When you enroll your children at Dakota Hills, you will become a part of a supportive educational family.

Jim Roberts - Assistant Principal
My name is Jim Roberts and I am very proud to serve the students, parents, and staff of Dakota Hills Middle School as the school’s Assistant Principal. I began my career in education in 1989 and have been a part of the Dakota Hills community since 1995. I received my administrative licensure through St. Mary’s University and my Master’s of Education degree through the University of Minnesota. My teaching certification is from the University of St. Thomas.
I thoroughly enjoy working at Dakota Hills Middle School with enthusiastic teachers, obviously energetic students and involved parents. I believe these three groups working together will continue to create a first-rate middle school. The students of Dakota Hills quickly discover the school is a fun and rewarding place to learn and begin their teenage years. Along with the school’s strong core academic subjects, there are plenty of opportunities for students to participate and excel in a variety of cocurricular programs ranging from sports, club activities, and the performing arts. Parents also find that Dakota Hills has an extremely positive learning environment for their child provided by very dedicated and committed teachers whose goal is to help our students reach their full potential.
Thank you for taking this opportunity to learn more about the Dakota Hills Middle School community.

Assistant Administrator - Erik Davis
Welcome, and thanks for visiting! My name is Erik Davis, and I'm very proud to a member of the Dakota Hills Middle School staff! As the Assistant Administrator, I couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to work the staff, students, and families of DHMS.
I began my career in education teaching at Pinewood Community School, just down the road. At Pinewood, I taught both Second and Third Grade, and am very excited to see the familiar faces of my former students and their families here at Dakota Hills!
In addition to my ties at Pinewood, I have also worked with Eagan families during my eight year tenure as an assistant coach for the Eagan High School Boys' Hockey Program. While I have resigned from that position, I very much enjoy working with the Eagan community in a different role.
Prior to coming to DHMS, I spent four years at Falcon Ridge Middle School, in Apple Valley. At FRMS, I began as the school's Instructional Technology Coordinator, and quickly gravitated toward school administration during my final two years at the school. While I very much enjoyed my time at Falcon Ridge, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the staff, students, and families at DHMS.
As an administrator, I believe in a positive, supporting learning environment in which all students are given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. I support the idea that school should be a fun and inviting institution wherein students are able to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Here at Dakota Hills Middle School, students are able to experience a strong and rigorous academic schedule, as well as participate in a variety of co-curricular programs. I believe these opportunities- along with a very dedicated staff, enthusiastic students, and supportive families, work together to make Dakota Hills a quality middle school.
Thank you once again for visiting. I am proud to be a member of the Dakota Hills Middle School staff, and am very excited to work with everyone in the DHMS community!
