The BHMS athletic program provides a positive, structured, child-centered environment where students can learn, explore, experience and enjoy the benefits of participating in sports. Students in grades seven and eight are invited to participate in any of the BHMS athletic programs. Students in grade six are invited to participate in cross-country, tennis and wrestling.
At Black Hawk, athletes are students first. To support our student-athletes to reach their full potential, BHMS holds students participating in co-curricular activities to the same standard of respect and responsibility that is expected in the classroom. Playing privileges may be affected if student athletes choose not to take responsibility regarding their academics and/or behavior during the school day. This is at the discretion of the coach, activities director and their teachers.
Seventh and eighth grade students are also eligible to participate in the following high school programs for student-athletes in grades seven through twelve. If you are interested, please contact Eastview High School or Eagan High School.
- Girls Gymnastics (Winter)
- Downhill Skiing (Winter)
- Nordic Skiing (Winter)
- Girls Hockey (Winter)
- Girls Fastpitch Softball (Spring)
Eastview (EVAA) and Eagan (EAA) Athletic Associations also offer in-house and traveling athletic opportunities in sports, such as football, baseball and lacrosse, which are not offered through the District 196 middle schools.
