Rising 9th Grade TRANSITION INFORMATION
8th Grade Students will be assisted with choosing their 9th grade classes on March 22 at Harris Road. Before that time, there will be a family night at each high school, and websites with further information about courses and guidance on choosing them. Check back here regularly for updated information as it's made available!

Please check the date and time for your high school's evening event. These events are designed for students and parent/guardians to attend together. You will learn valuable information about planning for high school.
If you are attending Cox Mill next year, take some time to go through the registration materials and decide which classes you want to request for 9th grade. We will be joined by Cox Mill staff on March 22, 2024 to help input your finalized course requests into Powerschool.
-Students must complete the Google Form in Step 3 on the Cox Mill Registration Website by MARCH 15, 2024!

High School Planning Classroom Guidance Lesson January 2024
Confidentiality / Disclosure Statement:
Counseling is based on a trusting relationship between the SISP member (school counselor, school social worker, and school psychologist) and students. The SISP team member will keep information confidential with some possible exceptions.
SISP team members may share information with parents/guardians, the student’s teacher, and/or administrators who work with the student on a need to know basis, so that we may better support the student.
Under the following circumstances, the SISP team members are required by law to share information with others:
1. Presenting information about hurting herself/himself or another person
2. Evidence or disclosure of abuse (physically, emotionally, and sexually) or neglect
3. Threats to school security
4. Disclosure of requesting teachers/staff to call student by a different name or pronoun
Students can request a meeting with a member of the Student Support Team by completing the grade level request form below.
Classroom guidance
Counselors will be teaching Classroom Guidance lessons each quarter to support student growth. Lessons will focus on academic and career planning, as well as emotional and personal health. Lesson details can be found by clicking the grade level link below. Contact the grade level Counselor with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Program Choice 23-24
Cabarrus County Schools offers a variety of programs that 8th graders can apply to attend starting their 9th grade year. Please visit the Program Choice Website for important application information & deadlines. Applications are only open from 10/17/23 - 12/15/23.
The virtual information session scheduled for 10/3 at 3:00 has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances.

YMCA Teen Leaders club
This program teaches leadership skills through community service, volunteering, and personal growth.
