Palmetto High School Choir

In choir at Palmetto High School, students will learn music literacy through the art of choral music. Instruction is focused on using the voice to sing and perform repertoire, learning to read music, tonal and rhythmic sight reading, and utilizing solfège.

Palmetto’s choral program, under the direction of Mr. Jared Fricks, is made up of four choirs: Varsity Concert Choir, Varsity Treble Choir, JV Concert Choir, and Mixed Choir.

All choir students will also have mandatory rehearsals and performances throughout the school year.

VARSITY CONCERT CHOIR

Palmetto's elite choral group made up of auditioned 10th - 12th grade students
This group participates in SWUfest, Western Region Choir, All State, ASD1 All-District Choir, and the SC CPA, as well as the concerts at Palmetto each semester.
This group focuses on: continuing intermediate and advanced sight-reading skills, advancing musicality and music literacy, and performing a wide variety of choral repertoire.
This is an honors class and requires an audition.

VARSITY TREBLE CHOIR

Palmetto's advanced choral group made up of auditioned 10th - 12th grade treble singers
This group participates in the concerts at Palmetto each semester and ASD1 All-District Choir.
This group focuses on: continuing intermediate sight-reading skills, advancing musicality and music literacy, and performing a wide variety of choral repertoire.
This is an honors class and requires an audition.

JV CONCERT CHOIR

Palmetto's beginning advanced choral group made up of auditioned 9th grade students
This group participates in the concerts at Palmetto each semester and ASD1 All-District Choir.
This group focuses on fostering beginning and intermediate sight-reading skills, advancing musicality and music literacy, and performing a wide variety of choral repertoire.
This is an honors class and requires an audition or recommendation from the middle school choral teacher.

MIXED CHOIR

Palmetto's beginning choral group that does not require any previous choral experience
This group participates in the concerts at Palmetto each semester.
This group focuses on: fostering basic sight-reading skills, establishing musicality and music literacy, and performing a wide variety of choral repertoire.
