ACP: Glee Club
Written by Lana Lane Garcia
APEC students had the opportunity to vote for their favorite artists in the APEC Music Awards, which were hosted by Sir Rongie Paul Saida and the Glee Club. Before the awarding ceremony began, students experienced listening to some mashup songs like, ‘Dance Monkey’ by Tone and I, ‘Dynamite’ by BTS, ‘Flowers’ by Miley Cyrus, and other famous songs on TikTok.
While the nominees for each artist were being awarded, Sir Rongie shared the performance of each student. The ‘Shitake Band’, performed two songs, including 'Ang Huling El Bimbo,' and another student also performed ‘Viva La Vida’ by Coldplay.
While this was going on, APEC students started to show their support for their favorite artists in each category, such as in the case of the 'APEC Fan's Choice Award,' which was won by Five K-pop Groups (Twice, Blackpink, Enhypen, BTS, and Itzy). For all the Blackpink fans out there! Blinks is the "Best Fandom" winner.
As the OPM Awards ceremony is just getting started, Pinoy pride won't stop either. SB19 got the "Best Group Artist Award," and Ez Mil won the "Best Rap Song Performance" for his song, "Panalo." Eraserhead's "Ang Huling El Bimbo" won the category for "Best Alternative & Rock Song Performance" in addition to other awards given by Ben & Ben for "Best Artist Band." Gloc 9 was named "Best Rap Artist," while Moira Dela Torre got two prizes for each of these: "Best Solo Song Performance" for her song Kumpas and "OPM Female Artist." Students also get to watch the 'Best Music Video' winner, December Avenue with Moira Dela Torre, before the event is over, a heartbreaking song, ‘Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw’.

The 'PASIKLABAN: Tunggalian ng Talento at Kakayahan' has recently started. The White Wolves and Red Jaguars team submitted their initial proposals on the first day. Both teams had been practicing for more than an hour prior to the presentation starting.
The club prepared two tutorials: Leveling Up Your Line Art by Noreen Burnett and Mobile Photography 101 by Claire Catalan.
Students had a helpful beginner guide if they would want to try out digital art with the help of illustrations and tips Noreen prepared. She reminded people that in order to have a decent draft, they must be confident in doing their lines on digital art. In the second tutorial, they learned how to enhance their photos. Some of the tips given in the mobile photography video include setting a subject focus, using the grid function, keeping your phone steady, and cleaning the lens.
Students from APEC Cluster A must submit a photograph or artwork depicting the festive atmosphere and colors for the theme “Carnival of Arts.” The deadline for submissions was April 1-2, 2023.
ACP: Dance Club

Miss Kate Cagara hosted a meeting with the dance club regarding what students expect from the upcoming week since there will be no classes during the holy week. The students stated that they were looking forward to the IPBAs to work on, as well as making sure they have enough time to spend with their families outside of dance practice.
An icebreaker game called “Bring Me”, which was well received by the youngsters was used to start off the meeting. Michelle won the game and was rewarded for her quick reflexes and participation.
Ms. Kate then explained the rules of the upcoming dance competition. The competition will have two categories: group dance and solo dance. Each site will have one winning group dance and one winning solo dance. The winners will receive APEC merchandise as a prize, which added to the excitement of the upcoming competition.
Partricia Quina and Ashley Sibal won the competition for A01 V. Luna, with Hype Boy from the South Korean girl group NewJeans as their background song. Gabriele Ismael Refugio won the competition for A08 Markina Heights, utilizing Maymay Entrata’s Amakabogera mashup with Puede ba and ‘Di Kawalan as his music. For B09 Ortigas Extension, Ralph Jillian Gonzales won using ParadoXXX Invasion from the South Korean boy band Enhypen as her soundtrack. Lastly, Rio Bianca Roncal won for B10 Kalumpang, with the song Like OOH - AHH from another South Korean girl group Twice.
What really stood out was the individuality of each dancer's performance. It was clear that they all had their own uniqueness and that they had poured their heart and soul into their routines. Watching them perform was a reminder that there are so many different ways to express oneself through movement, and that there is beauty to be found in all of them.
Even though not everyone can take home the top prize, it's important to remember that the true value of dance lies in the joy and passion that it brings to both the performers and the audience. Every dancer who took to the stage that day should be proud of what they accomplished, and I have no doubt that they will continue to inspire others with their talent and creativity in the future.
