"We are good with writing our words,
because we choose silence."
A whole month dedicated to celebrating women and their historical, cultural, scientific, and societal contributions— National Women’s Month has come!
As girls, we are lucky to live in an era that now uplifts women and seeks to properly credit important discoveries to them and National Women’s Month is all about that. Before, so many voices were silenced or had their ideas stolen just because of their gender. This month and the women who have fought for it, allows us to learn and appreciate the work that women have done for society and history.
But International Women’s Day (IDW) and National Women’s Month aren’t just for us to celebrate girlhood and appreciate the women before us who stood against the status quo to fight for more opportunities and better lives. It is also about uplifting each other and giving each other a safe space to speak out against problems we still face today as women.
Let us not stop fighting, call out misogyny when you see it and be unafraid to reach out to your girls for help. Although society has come a long way, we still need to stand together and support each other.
