The highly awaited Student Council (SC) Elections officially begins, with campaigning starting on May 5, 2025.
The SC elections empower students to select representatives and shape their school communities' future. It is organized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). This event promotes leadership and accountability among students while promoting active participation.
The day is also the beginning of the room-to-room campaign, where students can meet candidates, hear their platforms, and ask questions. One of the candidates for this year is the YAP Partylist, which stands for Youth Advocates for Progress. This team consists of passionate student leaders who aim to bring innovation and positive change to the school.
A new set of leaders was officially processed after a few days of campaigning and a fair election process. Jan Maurice Dela Cerna is elected president and will be leading with diligence and sincerity. Supporting them is Ashley Phoebe Patrimonio, the newly elected vice president, who is delighted and wholeheartedly ready to serve. Neri Adda Cabanes will be the secretary in charge of communication and organization for the council, while financial matters will be handled by Danielle Sarah De Guzman, the new treasurer. Xavier Clint Borromeo was chosen as an auditor to ensure transparency and accountability in all council activities.
To promote a peaceful atmosphere in the school, Harriette Eliza Prestosa is appointed Senior High School Peace Officer, and Cean Marco Cabbo fills in as Junior High School Peace Officer. Thus, these passionate and brave individuals will serve the student body for the 2025-2026, bringing their unique strengths and vision.
SC elections are important because this is where students can practice democratic values, make their voices heard, and create opportunities for meaningful change in school. Electing responsible and passionate leaders represents a significant step toward a more engaged and vibrant APEC Schools-Bacoor community.
In conclusion, the successful SC elections have not been just a victory for the elected officers but a moment of pride for the whole student body.
