MAGNET SCHOOL STUDENT SUPPORT FEE


The Edgecomb School Committee will consider requests from students attending Magnet Schools for payment of assessed fees. The School Committee shall approve or disapprove requests using the criteria from the policy as guidelines .

Guidelines

A. Students (parents/guardians) wishing to have fees assessed by Magnet Schools be paid by the Edgecomb School Committee shall submit:

1. A formal written request for payment of costs not covered after family efforts to secure State support based on family financial need has been exhausted.

2. A full statement of costs for attendance showing fees paid by the State of Maine and fees to be borne by the parent and requested of the school department. The bill should identify what will be paid for with the funds requested. A copy of the bill sent by the Magnet School.

3. A schedule of requested payments. (Lump sum, monthly, etc.)

B. The Edgecomb School Committee will consider approval of payment under the following criteria.

1. Payment of the fee is allowable under current statutes.

2. Payment of the fee is allowable under subsidized cost.

3. Payment of the fee will not cause support for this individual to exceed support for students in attendance at other schools.
