CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND ADOPTION

School districts and educators must respond to the rapid social change, technological developments and expanding knowledge base of our contemporary life style . Therefore, it is imperative that we continuously review, modify and evaluate our curriculum and existing programs to effectively meet the needs of students and the expectations of the community. Therefore:

A. The School Committee expects the administration and faculty to be perpetually sensitive to changing conditions that may require changes in curriculum ;

B. The School Committee expects all programs to be under continuous evaluation to see that they meet the needs of students;

C. The Committee expects intensive curriculum evaluation and revision to be undertaken as the need is demonstrated;

D. The school administration is expected to inspire, lead, guide and direct the process of keeping the school system abreast of growing community aspirations as well as of advancing knowledge and new educational approaches;

E. It is expected that curriculum development and revision be achieved with appropriate involvement of administration, instructional and support staff, students, community and the School Committee; and

F. The School Committee shall review and approve all proposed curriculum changes and additions/changes/ deletions of courses of study prior to their implementation . All new programs shall be reviewed annually for two years after implementation by the School Committee.
