CLASS RANKINGS/GRADE POINT AVERAGES

Grade Point Averages (GPA) will be calculated as follows:

1. The determination of the GPA will be the responsibility of the High School Guidance Counselor.

2. All high school courses receiving a numeric grade will be included in the calculation. All grades received from other high schools will be converted to the Boothbay Region High School numeric scale.

3. GPA will be calculated on a cumulative basis, using yearly averages at the end of the Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior years, and with the final determination of the GPA at the end of the third quarter of the Senior year.

4. All GPA calculations will be on a scale of 0-100.

5. If the student attends another school for one or more of his high school years, the credits from that school are to be transferred and included in the GPA, using established procedures and scales of Boothbay Region High School's Guidance Department. The GPA includes only grades from accredited schools, public and private. In the event that there is a significant and documented concern regarding the validity of a school's grading system or academic program, the principal may disqualify any such grades from being included in the calculation of the GPA.
