STUDENT TRANSPORTATION

Bus service will be provided for all students Grades K-12.

Bus service will not be provided for private roads, dirt roads or inaccessible roads. Such students, if they are outside the walking distance, will be picked up at the nearest bus pick-up point on a public road.

To facilitate the planning of main bus routes, the School Committee has established that:

A. No elementary student shall be required to walk more than one-half mile from the road-end to his/her driveway to school or to the nearest bus pickĀ up point; and

B. No secondary student shall be required to walk more than one mile from the road-end to his/her driveway to school or to the nearest bus pick-up point.

C. Bus stops shall be consolidated to the extent possible.

D. Since the health and safety of all students are of utmost importance, exceptions to the policy may be made by the superintendent with consultation of the School Committee if necessary (i.e., extremely hazardous traffic conditions, isolated areas).

E. All bus service is dependent upon roads being safely passable for a school bus.
