Details for 2023-2024 school year

The Phoenix program coordinating teacher will begin the 23-24 school year reviewing Individual Plans for identified GT students, meeting with GT students to check in with them, helping to coordinate math programming, meeting with teachers to assist with program plans, organizing schedules for student plans and the Phoenix classroom use, connecting with volunteers and mentors, screening students, meeting with and screening any new 4-8th grade students nominated for GT screening, and reaching out to parents of current identified GT students.

*For parents/guardians of a  4th or 5th grade student, who scored at or above the 95th percentile in either their math or ELA NWEA test from the spring of the previous school year, your child will automatically be in the GT screening pool.  If you, your child, or your child's teacher (from the previous school year) nominated your child to be screened, they will be added to the current screening pool.

Screening decisions will require fall NWEA data, so due to the later testing window this fall, those decisions will not be sent out to parents/guardians until likely the first week in November.   In the meantime, the GT teacher will stay in contact with 4th and 5th-grade classroom teachers to offer differentiation resources, will pull students into the screening pool for CogAT testing and informal interviews,  and will make classroom observations of students in the screening pool.
