My name is Cherie Barnes. I graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Since graduation, I have taught 2nd grade at Hugo Elementary School. Last year, I taught 3rd grade here at Antlers, but this year I am very excited about teaching 4th grade math!
It is my desire to create a welcoming environment and to build a positive relationship with my students. I believe each child is an unique individual who will give their best effort and thrive emotionally, academically, and socially when they feel loved and supported in a classroom with consistency and clear expectations.
Recently, I married Warren Barnes. He is the Antler's High School principal, so we are a bearcat family. We live in Antlers with my two daughters, Marin and Morgan McClellan and Warren's son, Parker. Parker is a freshman here at Antlers. My two daughters are attending East Central University; Marin is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education, and Morgan is a majoring in English Education. We also have a sweet little cavapoo (King Charles Cavalier Spaniel / Poodle) puppy named Harley.
