Open Streets in East Harlem (E. 115 STREET)
Open Streets E. 115 Street between Park Ave and Madison Ave is a community wellness initiative that brings health resources, arts programming, and neighborhood engagement directly into public spaces in East Harlem. By temporarily transforming streets into spaces for learning, recreation, and connection, Open Streets creates opportunities for residents to access information, meet local organizations, and participate in activities that support physical, emotional, and community well-being.
Throughout the summer, Open Streets programming highlights topics such as social and emotional wellness, physical health, environmental awareness, youth leadership, career development, and spiritual well-being. The goal is simple: create spaces where neighbors can gather, learn, and build stronger relationships with the organizations that serve the community.
This website documents the work of the initiative, including photos from past Open Streets events, information about community partners, and resources that support healthier neighborhoods.

The Open Streets Community Health Initiative is part of the Center for Solutions, a community-driven effort focused on identifying and addressing challenges that impact the health and well-being of East Harlem residents.
Through research, public forums, and collaborative programming, the Center for Solutions works to bring together community members, service providers, educators, and advocates to develop practical responses to neighborhood issues.
One important example of this work was the 2024 Addiction Forum, where local stakeholders gathered to discuss substance use, harm reduction, and recovery support in East Harlem. Insights from that forum, along with community-based analysis and research, continue to inform the programming and partnerships that shape Open Streets and other community health initiatives.
