Groups of up to four teams will compete against each other..
For round one, teams will be randomly assigned an arena and will be seated upon arrival.
The team captain will answer for the team.
Each oral round lasts for 15 minutes or 1 question/title, whichever comes first.
There will be 4 rounds of oral questions for all teams.
Two adults/coaches will serve at each arena in one of two positions (2 coaches at each center):
Question Reader: reads questions and judges team responses, keeps time for team responses, judges team responses .
Scorekeeper/Timer: tallies points for correct answers, helps judge team responses, and records scores on spreadsheet.
Any discrepancies in the validity of an answer should be resolved AT THE TIME with all coaches and teams coming to an agreement. This may result in a question simply being thrown out if a consensus cannot be reached.
Questions/problems that can not be resolved at the arena should bring the issue immediately to the scoring center.
Coaches should keep all participants at their arena until all arenas are finished, and the announcement to switch arenas for the next round has been made.
Reader/Timer has each team draw a card from the deck to determine team placement.
Reader reads aloud the first question from Google Slide that appears on the slideshow.
Team “A” has 15 seconds to discuss and answer question. Timer will prompt “I need an answer” at 15 seconds.
If team A answers correctly, they earn 4 points. If Team A answers incorrectly, the question proceeds to Team B.
The reader does NOT repeat the question. Team B has up to 10 seconds to answer the question. If correct, they earn 3 points. If incorrect the question proceeds to team C.
Team C has up to 5 seconds to answer the question. If correct, they earn 2 points. If incorrect the question goes to team D.
Team D has up to 5 seconds to answer the question. If correct, they earn 1 point. If incorrect, no one earns points.
Reader/Timer reads the second question. Team B will have the first chance to answer this question and earn 4 points, then team C (for 3 points), then team D (for 2 points), then team A (for 1 point).
Questioning proceeds as above, with the chance to answer the question first rotating through the teams.
The round will end by time or end of questions. If a team is in the process of answering, they may finish their answer. At this point, additional teams will not be able to have a chance to answer that question and additional questions will not be read after the round ends.
When the round is finished, the Scorekeeper/Runner will tally all scores, place score on spreadsheet. All contestants must leave the Zoom Meeting.
Each Zoom session will HOLD students until given the announcement to rotate.
Scorekeepers tally scores. The teams will rotate as follows:
Top two high scoring teams at each center will select the Baker Zoom link for the next round.
Bottom two (or one) scoring teams at each center will select the Baker Zoom link for the next round.
Teams will rotate three times, for a total of four oral rounds.
For each round, scorekeepers will issue placement cards to determine the order teams answer questions.
Scorekeepers will fill out each team’s scorecard at the conclusion of each round and enter the final total on the spreadsheet.

Second place teams at each center move to Center B.
Third place teams at each center move to Center C.
Fourth place teams will be randomly assigned a center from the scoring center.
Teams will rotate three times, for a total of four oral rounds.
Scorekeepers will issue placement cards, so teams rotate to the correct Center.
Scorekeepers will fill out each team’s scorecard at the conclusion of each round. The runner will deliver the scorecards to the scoring desk (Room F).
NOTE: All centers are reading questions in the same order. Please speak loudly enough for your center to hear the question but not so loudly that other teams can hear (they may be on a different question). It is OK to move closely as you read the questions so you can keep a low voice.
Two adult volunteers will man scoring center.
Scoring center will be in charge of timing all four of the 20-minute competition rounds.
Scoring center will tally center.
