My name Is Mia Ferguson, and I am so excited to be your teacher for this upcoming school year!
All about me
My name is Mia Ferguson and this will be my second year teaching! I was previously at Hopewell Middle School where I student-taught Texas History and then taught 6th Grade World Cultures and 8th Grade US History. This is my first year at Deerpark Middle School, and I am so incredibly excited to be immersed within a new school.
I am getting married to my college sweetheart, Victor, in March of 2024. I am originally from Marble Falls, Texas. However, I live my my fiance, Victor, our two dogs, Mufasa and Flora, our two kitties Chester and Ferb in Round Rock!
I love all things history, traveling, and the ocean. I recently went to Mexico and Latin America over the summer, where we spent lots of time soaking up vitamin D. My fiance is from northern Mexico, so we travel frequently there! During college, I traveled all around Europe with my choir singing in beautiful places such as the Vatican, in Italy. I love to cook and bake, most likely if I am not teachin' I'm bakin'! I love Dr. Pepper and pickles.

Regarding education, I saw that recently schooling has been built around grades and shifted from actual learning. In my classroom, I am focused on learning and gaining bright knowledge of our content and the world. Grades do not determine how smart you are! Every day Is a new day here In my classroom.
I believe that all students are accountable for their own actions!
Grading Policy: Students have multiple chances on every assignment that we do! Please make sure all grades are turned In, If not there will be a 0 until turned In. For tests, If you got under 70% you are required to do test corrections! If you got above a 70% I will take test corrections as +5 points on the test grade. Everything Is worth 40% of assessments and 60% of assignments In the grading book.
Tutoring or Extra Help: Monday and Thursday after school or by appointment.
I believe that history assessments should be relevant, Interesting, and engaging for all. I'm here to improve your child's knowledge of the content of social studies, and I do it in many formats. History Isn't boring, your teacher was.
