The Creative Community Care Map
The Origin of This Map
In April 2026, Andy, Peter, and Bee began to explore what it might look like to work together on a collaborative project as part of our participation in the Fierce Vulnerability Kinship Lab.
We told stories and asked questions of each other, navigating the complexities of being three people with vastly different stories and life experiences. And by our second visit together, we circled quickly around a common vision:
To create a map highlighting visual acts of care in our communities.
Each of us being frequent walk-takers, we noted how often small acts of care show up on our street corners, in front of houses and apartments, and in the most unexpected of places.
Little libraries, free seed and start exchanges, chalked sidewalks with messages of care – all examples of neighbors choosing to make care visible in their communities.
In Tacoma, where Bee and Andy reside, more organized acts of creative care include our local Story Hive Project and the city-wide Monkeyshine treasure hunt.
These are visual and communal interventions – many claiming public space without asking permission – that demonstrate local care in the midst of a culture that prioritizes speed, production, and separation.
Our goal is to document, describe, and invite these small acts of radical care into the map for all of us to contribute to.
This is a living resource – as you walk and move through your neighborhood, snap a picture and add it to the map here.
