Welcome to fifth grade! I am Mary Ann Reno and I am excited about teaching fifth grade this year. My goal is to have a classroom that is a safe and positive learning environment where we will cultivate the minds of thinkers, learners, and doers- and we'll have fun doing it!
I grew up in the small town of Erwin in East Tennessee. I loved cheerleading, dancing, playing soccer, and going to church. After I graduated from Unicoi County High School, I attended Tennessee Tech University (Go, Eagles!) where I received a degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, I married Bill. We have now been married for 31 years! We moved to Knoxville where I taught a fourth and fifth-grade combination class, a first and second-grade combination class, and then second grade. During this time, I also attended the University of Tennessee (Go, Vols!), where I earned my Masters of Information Sciences. I have an endorsement in gifted and talented and Read to Succeed. I love learning!
I became a mom of two beautiful girls, Mary Beth and Sarah Grace. We moved to Anderson, and I started teaching again when the kids were in school. Since returning to the classroom, I have taught second, fifth, and a Learning Lab class.
I blinked, and my children are grown. Mary Beth is a biomedical engineer in Knoxville, TN and Sarah Grace is a mechanical engineer Charleston, SC. They both graduated from Clemson University. (Go Tigers!) I have two dogs, Aggie and Sadie.
In my free time, I enjoy volunteering at my church, reading, and being with my family.
