About Mrs. Shaw
I am so excited to be teaching AVID at Robert Anderson! I love my school, colleagues and all of my students; current and past. This is my 8th year in education. I began my career at Glenview teaching technology, reading, and science over the course of three years. I then moved to Varennes teaching 5th grade for one year and 3rd grade for one year. I was blessed to get the opportunity to move back into middle school at Robert Anderson in 2017 teaching 7th grade ELA. This year, I will be teaching the AVID elective course for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade AVID students. I love what I do and I enjoy getting to know my students and building relationships with all of them. I am looking forward to a great school year!
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Aaron, for 7 years and we have a son in 1st grade and a daughter who is turning two in September. I was born and raised in Anderson and attended Centerville, Lakeside and Westside. I love Anderson 5! I was in the Westside Ram Band in high school and consider it a great achievement and a blessing to have been a part of such a talented group. I learned organization, self-discipline, commitment and responsibility while in the band at Westside. I am proud to have been a part of such a hardworking team of musicians.
I spend most of my free time in craft stores, at Target, and at my home loving on my children with my coffee in hand. I enjoy spending time with my family. My favorite time of year is when the seasons begin to change. Summer transitioning into Fall is my favorite, but also winter transitioning into Spring. The weather is cool but not too cold, or warm but not yet humid. It makes me excited for the events and activities that come with those seasons!
I can't wait to get to know you and I hope you enjoy your time with me as well! Let's have a great year!
I had a wonderful summer and I hope you did too! We spent most of the summer at the beach or outside soaking up the sun! I traveled a lot this past year. I was able to visit NYC and Philadelphia. My family vacationed in Hilton Head and Panama City. We also took a day trip to the GA Aquarium. My dog, Rambo, enjoyed spending time with us as well. I had a few too many Pink Drinks from Starbucks to keep me cool from the summer heat! My family loves to hang out downtown on Thursdays during the Block Party! We grab a pizza from Summa Joe's and find a spot on the grass to listen to music and let the kiddos play in the water.
On September 20, 2018 Robert Anderson joined the ROCK YOUR SCHOOL movement! We were featured on Rock Your School LIVE! Tune to 11:30 in the video to hear more about how much our students loved rocking their school! Go RAMS!
