This school year, seventh-grade science centers on the field of life science. Students will explore the full spectrum of living systems, moving from the microscopic world of individual cells up to the complex dynamics of entire ecosystems.
Alongside mastering core scientific concepts, our classroom will emphasize three key shifts in how students learn and think:
Embracing Ambiguity: Learning that science is an ongoing process of inquiry where a single "right answer" isn't always immediately available.
Fostering Critical Thinking: Moving from passive learning to active investigation by designing experiments, collaborating with peers, and formulating driving questions.
Building Resilience: Encouraging students to push through challenging concepts independently. Rather than providing immediate answers, I will frequently guide them with questions like "What do you think?" to help them trust their own reasoning.
Communication: Students will have several opportunities to practice scientific conversations.
