STAFF - a set of 5 lines and 4 spaces
TREBLE CLEF - the curly sign at the beginning of a staff, the treble clef tells us what to name the lines and spaces
LINE - the line on a staff, any note on a line has the line going right through the middle of it
SPACE - the space between two lines, any note in a space sits between the lines
NOTE or PITCH - the round circles that sit on a line or in a space, NOTE and PITCH mean the same thing!
Music is written on the STAFF
The STAFF has 5 lines and 4 spaces
At the beginning of every STAFF is a curly symbol called a TREBLE CLEF
The TREBLE CLEF tells us the names of the LINES and SPACES
Every LINE and SPACE has a letter name that follows the alphabet (A, B, C, D, E, F or G)
To help you remember the names of the LINE NOTES, you can use the sentence:
Every Good Boy Does Fine
To help you remember the names of the SPACE NOTES, you can spell the word F A C E :
Do you HAVE to use this sentence to help you remember the line notes? NOPE! You can use any sentence you want, as long as each word starts with E, G, B, D, and F. Here are some examples...
Every Girl Buys Designer Fashion
Every Good Burger Deserves Fries
Elephants Get Big Dirty Feet
Ernie Gave Bert Dead Flowers
Empty Garbage Before Dad Flips
... can you try to come up with your own sentence?
BUT, these are not all the notes! More notes continue ABOVE and BELOW the staff lines. What's the trick to remember the names of these notes? Follow the alphabet! (see picture below)
"Lines and Spaces, Baby!"
"Treble Clef Note Names"
"The Music Staff Rap"
"I Knew You Were Treble"
