Welcome! I'm so excited to get to know you this year!
About señora Vélez
I am so excited to share my love of the Spanish-speaking world and journalistic writing this year!
My name is Lydia Vélez and this is my twelfth year teaching Spanish, and my second as Yearbook Adviser. I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Eastern University in Pennsylvania. I am originally from a small town in New Jersey, but moved to Texas to marry my husband, Manny. We have two sons named Eli and Elliott. Eli is 3 and Elliott is 1 year old. I have been studying Spanish for 20 years (since I was a high school freshman) and have studied in Sevilla, Spain and parts of Mexico.
I love to cook, read, sew, and learn about other cultures. If I could have a superpower, I would be able to speak every language perfectly!
Because of my love for languages and getting to know people, I am also teaching the yearbook class again this year! I am extremely excited to help my students record memories on which they can look back for years to come!
I love getting to know new people, and I look forward to getting to know you! Let's have a year that is fantástico!
