Hello! I am Ms. Smith. I am so excited to be teaching 6th grade science at Rodeo Palms Junior High. I have been part of the community in Alvin ISD for 1 year and received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in 2022. I enjoy spending time with family, traveling or exploring when I can and I adore my cat, Moon. Utilizing metacognition and growth mindset skills are strategies I have learned to apply every day, which involves thinking about thinking, as well as reflection on what is learned. I hope to cultivate these skills with the students as we grow together as a learning community. By implementing these skills in the classroom, we can tackle challenges with an assets based approach. Science has always been a subject I am passionate about and I am thrilled to work with each student to help them!
Push for success! #PUSHFORSUCCESS
Our learning involves inquiry and discovery through applications, which bring in developing an understanding of real world phenomena.
***Updated Class Procedure(s)***
For all classes, I require a pencil, composition notebook, as well as a highlighter. When material is turned in, the expectation is for the class to have highlighted their name, date and period number. This way, no one forgets to write their name on their paper, etc. and makes the grading process more smooth. Each class will have a designated color for highlighting purposes and no confusion between period(s). I will provide highlighters, but it will be helpful if they already have one to use. Below is a list of the class and designated color:
Monday & Friday
2:15 PM - 3:09 PM
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
2:25 PM - 3:12 PM
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
8:00 AM - 8:35 AM
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays
4:10 PM - 4:45 PM
***I will send emails, as well as updates through the Remind app. For example, if tutorials are not available on a certain day due to meetings, etc. I hold them as much as possible - Please check period page accordingly to link to Remind!
