Hello, I'm Mr. Park!

Welcome to the Nolan Ryan JH Longhorn Choir! I am James Park, and I am the choir director at Nolan Ryan Junior High. I graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor or Music in Music Theory and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting and then completed post-bac studies at University of Houston where I completed my permanent teaching certification in Music Education. I have taught choir for 23 years at both the middle and high school levels in Humble ISD and Clear Creek ISD. 

In my spare time, I am also the Music Director and Conductor of the Pasadena Philharmonic Orchestra, a community orchestra in Pasadena, and I enjoy spending time with my spouse, two kids, dog, and two cats. (We also have a bird, but the bird and I do not get along, and we are both satisfied with the arrangement since my kids love the bird). I am also a huge sci-fi nerd, love spy thrillers, and enjoy super hero movies and shows.

While I taught high school for 18 years, I was thrilled to return to my roots by teaching at the junior high level again in 2022. The wonderful students of Nolan Ryan Junior High Choir have a long history of choral excellence, and I am so excited to build on the strong foundation that has been created here as we strive to build and grow to new heights together.
